About the Incident
The incident occurred during a period when the murder of 22-year-old Nikki Yadav in Delhi’s Najafgarh had shaken the country. The Delhi Police had arrested a man on suspicion of killing his 22-year-old live-in partner and concealing her body in a fridge located in a dhaba on the outskirts of Mitraon village in Najafgarh.
According to insiders, the victim, Nikki Yadav, was allegedly strangled to death by her boyfriend, Sahil Gehlot (24), near Kashmiri Gate ISBT on the night of February 9 and 10. The suspect purportedly utilized the data cable from his car’s mobile phone to strangle the woman. Subsequently, he married another woman on the same day.
The account of Sahil bears uncanny resemblances to that of Aaftab Poonawala, who killed Shraddha Walkar by strangling her during a fit of rage in May of last year. Poonawala subsequently dismembered Walkar’s body into 35 pieces and stowed them in a 300-litre refrigerator before disposing of them in a forest in Mehrauli.
