The authorities in Columbiana County have rushed to the scene in East Palestine due to a train derailment that resulted in a major fire that lit up the sky for miles on Friday night.
About Ohio Train Derailment
The first reports of the incident came in shortly after 9 p.m. in the vicinity of East Taggart Street near the railway tracks that run east-west through the town.
Mayor Trent Conaway of East Palestine has advised all individuals within a one-mile radius of the James Street train crossing to evacuate immediately. Others have been asked to stay at home and avoid the roads while the fire is being contained.

Mayor Conaway stated during a midnight news conference on February 4th that the evacuation will remain in place until further notice.
Shelter arrangements for victims of East Palestine Train Derailment
Studio 25 located at 24 North Market Street is available for those needing a temporary shelter. A bus has been arranged to take people to the gymnasium at East Palestine School District, which is offering accommodation for evacuees.
Currently, there are no confirmed reports of injuries or fatalities. Fire departments from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have been called to assist.
Norfolk Southern Railroad issued the following statement: “We are aware of the derailment in East Palestine, and are coordinating closely with local first responders while mobilizing our own teams. We will share more details as they become available.”
