Hamburg Church Shooting Leaves Several Dead, Says German Police

German police have confirmed that several people were killed in a shooting that occurred at a church in Hamburg on Thursday.

According to the authorities, there were “one or more unknown” attackers, and the incident happened around 9 pm.

Police said that the shooting happened at a church on Deelboege street in the Grossborstel district. They stated on Twitter, “According to first indications, shots were fired… Several people were seriously injured, some even fatally.”

A catastrophe warning app was used by the authorities to warn people of an “extreme danger” in the area.

Police have instructed residents to remain indoors and steer clear of the church vicinity, and the streets surrounding the church have been sealed off.

While the police did not confirm the exact number of casualties, multiple German national media outlets reported that six people were killed.

As per German media reports, the perpetrator of the attack is currently at large.
