K Viswanath: Renowned Filmmaker and Actor Passes Away in Hyderabad
Sources reported that K Viswanath had been unwell for a period and was experiencing health problems due to his age. Sadly, he passed away at a hospital around midnight on Thursday.
Filmmaker Kasinadhuni Viswanath (K Viswanath), holder of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, passed away in a private hospital. He was 92. According to reports, Viswanath had been ill for a while and was experiencing age-related problems.
He died at the hospital shortly after midnight on Thursday. Viswanath, also known as ‘Kalatapasvi,’ was born in Andhra Pradesh in February 1930. He was the 48th laureate of the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the highest honor in Indian cinema. He was a significant name not just in Telugu cinema but also in Tamil and Hindi films.

He received the honor in 2016. According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed his sympathies on the demise of K Viswanath. Beginning his career as a sound artist, Viswanath went on to direct numerous critically acclaimed films, including “Sankarabharanam,” “Sagara Sangamam,” “Swati Mutyam,” “Saptapadi,” “Kaamchor,” “Sanjog,” and “Jaag Utha Insaan” throughout the course of a long career that also featured a similarly fruitful period in front of the camera.

Padma Shri in 1992, five National Awards, 20 Nandi Awards (awarded by the government of Andhra Pradesh), and ten Filmfare trophies, including the Lifetime Achievement award, are among his other honors. Viswanath, who had created 50 films since 1965, was a well-known Telugu director. He was also involved in Tamil and Hindi films.

K Viswanath made his directorial debut with “Aatma Gowravam,” a film starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao that received the Nandi Award for best feature film. It was followed by “Chelleli Kapuram,” “O Seeta Katha,” “Jeevana Jyoti,” and “Sarada” by the director. Viswanath also dabbled in mainstream acting, appearing in films like as “Swarabhishekam” (which he also directed), “Pandurangadu”, “Narasimha Naidu”, “Lakshmi Narasimha” and “Seemasimham”, “Kuruthipunal”, “Kakkai Siraginilae” and “Bagavathi”.
