Netflix to Enforce Stricter Policy Against Password Sharing in Q1. The streaming company, following the release of its latest earnings report, has outlined its plans to prevent account sharing. Tests of this new policy have already been conducted in select countries, as Netflix believes this practice negatively affects its revenue. The details on how the company intends to discourage password sharing have now been disclosed.
New measure for Netflix Account Password Sharing
Netflix Implements Household-Only Access to Accounts. As per the company’s FAQ page, only those residing at the same address as the primary account holder will be able to access a single Netflix account, while others will require their own account to use the service.
Netflix to Limit Cross-Household Password Sharing, Extra Fees Possible. The streaming service is making it more challenging for users to share their account password with those outside of their household, and it may come with additional charges for accessing the account from different locations.
Netflix will require a temporary 4-digit verification number within 15 minutes of requesting access if a new device connected to the primary account is in a different location. It will be possible to use the device somewhere for seven days in a row.
According to the firm, consumers who travel with their primary device will have no issue viewing Netflix in other places. A user must connect to Wi-Fi from their main location at least once every 31 days in order to guarantee seamless Netflix access.

Last year, Netflix introduced a brand-new function named “Profile Transfer” to combat the phenomenon of account password sharing. When they create their own Netflix accounts, users who are already sharing an account can keep their personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other preferences.

Each plan defines the number of devices that can access Netflix at the same time, and as long as they are possessed by members of the same household, they will not interfere with your viewing experience.
