Rahul Gandhi on PM Modi: Says, Deserves a Gold Medal for Foreign Policy and Adani Interests

Rahul Gandhi on PM Modi: During his 40-minute address, Rahul Gandhi fiercely criticized the current government over the ongoing controversy involving the Adani Group.

On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Congress party, claimed that India’s foreign policy under the BJP-led government is serving the interests of billionaire Gautam Adani. Speaking during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Lower House of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi stated that wherever Prime Minister Modi travels, Adani seems to “miraculously” secure deals.

Rahul Gandhi mentioned Adani’s entry into the defense sector and accused them of securing 90% of the defense agreements between Israel and India through just one visit by Prime Minister Modi.

Rahul Gandhi used the example of Australia to argue that after Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the country, the State Bank of India miraculously gave Adani USD 1 billion. He also cited the Prime Minister’s visits to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as evidence that Adani received contracts there shortly after the visits.

“During Prime Minister Modi’s first trip to Bangladesh, a decision was made to sell electricity to the country. A few days later, the Bangladesh Power Development Board signed a 25-year contract with Mr. Adani,” Gandhi, the Member of Parliament for Wayanad, stated. “Now let’s move on to Sri Lanka.”

According to Rahul Gandhi, the chairman of the Ceylon electricity board in Sri Lanka informed a parliamentary hearing in June 2022 that President Rajapaksa told him that Prime Minister Modi had “pressured” him to award the wind power contract to Adani.

This summarizes your foreign policy,” Gandhi, a leader of the Congress party, commented. This is not India’s foreign policy, it’s Mr. Adani’s foreign policy – a policy designed to advance his businesses.

“The entire world should conduct a study on Mr. Adani,” Gandhi stated. “Harvard University should study the relationship between politics and business. India is a case study, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves a gold medal for it.”

The BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad accused Rahul Gandhi of leveling unfounded, disgraceful, and irresponsible accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated that the Congress party was involved in major scams that had a negative impact on the nation’s reputation.

“Rahul Gandhi made unfounded, disgraceful, and irresponsible accusations against Prime Minister Modi.”
