Subi Suresh, Renowned Malayalam Actress, Succumbs to Liver Failure, Receives Tributes from Mohanlal and Dulquer Salmaan

Subi Suresh, a well-known Malayalam comedian and talk show host, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on February 22 at the age of 42.

Subi Suresh passing was announced on her Instagram handle, which shared a picture of a smiling Suresh with the caption, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. See you all again… Thanks.” 

The post received over 13,000 likes, and her fans flooded the comment section with messages of mourning. Many remembered growing up watching her shows Cinemala and Kuttipattalam and offered their condolences by writing “Rest in peace, Chechi” and “RIP.”

Subi Suresh had been battling liver problems for several years and was admitted to Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva on January 28 with acute liver failure. 

According to reports, she was also diagnosed with jaundice but could not undergo treatment due to a chronic lung condition. Suresh started her career as a mimicry artist and was part of the Cochin Kalabhavan troupe. 

She gained widespread recognition for her role in the hit parody show “Cinemala,” which has remained a beloved classic years after its conclusion. She later went on to host the popular children’s show “Kutty Pattalam.”

In addition to her successful career as a talk show host, Subi Suresh also appeared in several comedic roles in films such as “Happy Husbands” and “Kanaka Simhasanam.” She also maintained a YouTube channel featuring lifestyle and travel videos, with her most recent post showing her exploring the markets of Ranchi in casual attire.

Suresh made headlines in 2021 for speaking out against a netizen who left inappropriate comments on her clothing choices, expressing frustration with such moral policing.

Following news of her passing, Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan expressed his shock and sorrow on Twitter, stating, “Absolutely shocked to hear about Subi Suresh. So young and so much left to do. A real loss to the Malayalam film fraternity. Praying for her family and friends to cope through this difficult time.”

Megastar Mohanlal also paid tribute to the late actress Subi Suresh. In a Facebook post, he remembered her as a beloved artist who won over the hearts of Malayali audiences with her infectious laughter. 

He expressed his grief over her untimely passing and paid his respects to her talent and potential, saying, “Painful tributes on the passing of a dear sister who was to go on to many heights in acting and presentation.”
